We had a wonderful view from our room in Idaho Falls of the Snake River with the Mormon church headquarters for Idaho directly across the river as you see below. This room did not include breakfast so we were up and out pretty early knowing we had a long day of driving for poor Debbie ahead. We had fun at the places we stopped today. We went and took photos of the falls before leaving town then started out and stopped at Blackfoot as both Trip Advisor and Roadside America said the Idaho Potato Museum was worth a stop. It did not disappoint! We laughed our way through the gift shop and then the museum was interesting too although probably more information than we wanted to know about potato consumption. We decided that potatoes are very funny but then we think we are too!

We were going to stop and see Salt Lake but somehow missed the turn off and never saw any signs so that was not in the cards. Salt Lake is the biggest city and most traffic we have seen since St. Louis. The landscape changed dramatically as we headed south through Utah. We made a pit stop in a little place called Helper which is where I took the photo of the miner. When we finally reached Green River, Utah which is where we are spending the night, it was a bit scary. It is a one street town in the middle of the Utah desert...literally! They grow watermelons here of all things although we don't know where they grow them because we haven't seen them except at the fruit stands. We had lunch in a place called Granny Annie's in Kaysville and then dinner here at a place called the Tamarisk and both actually were very good. We are back in for the night and tomorrow are headed to Arches National Park. More tomorrow.

Great pictures the last couple of days. First time I ever heard of someone not being able to find SLC. Pretty funny. We had an exhausting day at the festival. Emerson is really beat so we may skip it completely and go to Boulder or Estes Park.
ReplyDeleteBut why didn't you go to Pistol Pete's? Looks like our kind of place!
